Ava: A Peter Rabbit Birthday Party

A

Every once in a while, a client comes knocking on my door with an idea for a theme that would EXACTLY fit with my own set of favorite themes (which I keep a record of in my head!). The theme Alison, my client wanted was: Peter Rabbit. This character is very close to my heart, simply because my own daughter loves all the Peter Rabbit books (she specifically loves rubbing her fingers against Tom Kitten’s icky, sticky paws!).

Even before the meeting ended, I already had a vision for her party, and the Party Magic team and I helped make this vision into reality:

Isn’t that so fresh? Since Guevarra’s had a lovely, spacious garden, we decided to make use of it and make a garden scene. I can already feel Mr. McGregor’s footsteps, rushing to chase me out of his garden!

I just love those over-sized books. Because of their large size, they make such a statement. Love the vintage signage labeled “Jardin” as well!

The stage layout I had to create from scratch; I wanted to go for a more dreamy, impressionist approach on the graphic design, thus the resulting brush-stroke backdrop:

Did you notice those pink, lovely, handcrafted trees made of folded paper? I was inspired to do this from noticing those lovely foliage that always appears in the background of Jemima Puddle-Duck in the books:

Oh look! There’s Jemima Puddle-Duck, sitting on that wooden crate!

And to cap it all of, here’s an absolutely fantastic shot by Den Llanos Dee of the very cute Ava and her parents, Alison and JB! Cheers!
