Henri’s Mickey Halloween Party

PARTY MAGIC MASH-UPS: THE HALLOWEEN EDITION

In line with the month of November, I thought that it would be fun to showcase another party related to the month’s festivities. Whereas last Tuesday I blogged about Nisha’s Book of Life party, a themed party focused on a movie about the Day of the Dead, this time I’m going to blog about a party with a Halloween aspect. Happy birthday to this cute little boy Henri!

Cutie Henri with his doting parents!

Besides being a party about Halloween, this is a party about Mickey Mouse AND Christmas as well, making it a mind-blowing Party Magic TRIPLE mash-up party! (for another mash-up party we did, take a look at Rafa’s Camp Christmas Party)

So how in the world did Party Magic manage to design and execute this? Read on to find out.

HENRI’S SPECIAL DAY: MICKEY, HALLOWEEN, AND CHRISTMAS COMBINED

Henri’s mom, the beautiful Gigi, is actually an old client of mine. Party Magic did Henri’s 1st birthday, and Gigi was all set and raring to throw her child another birthday party, this time for Henri’s 2nd birthday. But the task was a steep one as she wanted me to incorporate Mickey, Halloween, and Christmas in one event! Here’s my design for the stage:

Not too shabby right? I love how the classic characters like Mickey and Minnie were thrown in for a spin and came out in halloween garb, with Minnie in a pumpkin costume and Mickey wearing a purple and orange tuxedo! Plus, watch out for those flying ghosts!

The picture above though is incomplete. Watch below what happens when I add a little element to the stage:

Notice the ghosts now glowing? That’s just a simple par light focused on the ghost. Because of the clothing, the light was sort of “contained” inside the white cloth, making the ghost appear to emanate an otherworldly glow. Now that’s spooky!

(By the way: this party happened last January 2016, almost a full YEAR ago! Yep, that’s how backlogged I am with my blogging duties. ;p It also means that in about 2 months, Henri will be 3 years old!)

A “tighter” shot of the stage is as follows:

Incidentally, this zoomed-in part of the stage makes for the PERFECT background for a family photo:

Remember Jack Skellington, the main character from Nightmare Before Christmas? Well he’s on the stage too!

Guests were greeted by this scary sight at the entrance:

Smiling pumpkins with Mickey ears were scattered all around. Other elements include: autumn leaves, gift boxes, and scarecrows. I also thought it would be fun to use the typical Christmas greetings and elements and put a scary spin into it, such as “Season’s Screamings” (top left of the gate) and Santa’s List written out on an aged scroll:

THE MAIN ELEMENTS: CEILING, PHOTO AREA AND DESSERT

Like its theme, the ceiling was a mash-up of sorts too:

We hung pumpkins wearing glitter hats, large red spiders, black mickey mylar balloons, lanterns, and some multi-colored tassels. It was pure mayhem!

The photo area was a more benign sight:

I thought it would be fun to focus on a more “Christmas-y” feel for this area, with pure white walls and a fireplace as a backdrop to Mickey and Minnie. Cute Mickey-shaped Christmas stockings adorn the fireplace too:

Off to the side, a small Christmas tree lounges along with a pumpkin and a smiling scarecrow:

For the dessert area, I chose a happier Christmas feel as well:

I love the pure white Christmas tree adorned with small Mickeys!

The desserts were right on theme as well:

Look at those pumpkin cake pops!
